Movie review: J. Edgar

We saw J. Edgar last night and WOW. That was amazing.

The story is more about J. Edgar Hoover's personal life than his career, though you see the big things in the movie. Edgar is played by Leonardo diCaprio. Most people still think of Titanic or the Beach when they hear Leonardo. NOPE. Forget about his older movies, this actor should belong at the top, with George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Leo plays Edgar sooo well, down to the accent. He plays Edgar from a young age to his death and even as the older Edgar, Leonardo ROCKS it. He does the older movements, way of talking and walking amazing. You just believe Leo will look like that when he is 70 or 80. Leonardo may win an Oscar for this part if you as me.

Not only is Leonardo amazing, his co-star, Armie Hammer, who you may recognize from the Social Network, may win an Oscar as well, because the older Tolson is just amazing, especially after he's had a stroke. The acting is just outstanding.

The movie is directed by Clint Eastwood. I've seen two other movies he directed, Gran Torino and Grace is Gone (more because a certain Jamie Cullum did the theme songs), and if you see this movie, you can immediately tell it's again a Clint Eastwood movie. His style is so typical.

I can go on and on about the brilliance of this movie, but I suggest you all go see it in the theatre, though I have to warn you. If the movie wasn't such a big production, I'd say it suits the art house style better, but since it's out in the big theaters, I'd say it's a political drama and you have to like this genre to love this movie.
